The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue’s thick, creamy texture offers immediate and long-lasting hydration, which is particularly beneficial for people with dry skin around the eyes, like me.
The rich formula leaves the skin feeling nourished and protected, especially when used at night, and ingredients like Winter Daphne Stem Cell Extract and Soy Peptides help make the skin look and feel firmer, smoother, plumper and more youthful.
I also saw a noticeable reduction in dark circles and the overall skin tone around my eyes became more even and radiant the longer the review period went on. What’s more, Charlotte Tilbury promises this cream is suitable for sensitive skin and I can confirm it didn’t cause my sensitive skin any irritation or problems. Despite the inclusion of retinyl palmitate, which is a form of retinol.
On the flip side, the cream’s rich texture won’t suit everybody. If you have oily skin or prefer lighter creams and gels, you might find the cream too heavy, especially for daytime use. It requires a bit more time to fully absorb, which can be a hassle when applying makeup.
The price point is another consideration. At £49 for a 15ml jar, the eye cream is a significant investment. While it delivers on its promises, the cost might be a barrier for some. Additionally, the jar packaging, while luxurious, is less hygienic compared to pump dispensers.
Overall, the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue is a high-performing eye cream that delivers on its claims of hydration, firming, and brightening.
It’s particularly good for people with dry or mature skin looking for a luxurious addition to their skincare routine. However, its rich texture and higher price point might not make it the best choice for everyone.
If you prioritise effective, indulgent skincare and don’t mind investing in premium products, this eye cream is a worthy consideration. If you’re looking for something cheaper, I recommend the slightly cheaper Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Treatment.

How to use the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue
Charlotte Tilbury has earned a name of itself by selling luxury makeup and skincare products that cost a pretty penny, but promise a whole host of benefits.
One of the standout products from her extensive line – and one of the original products in the growing skincare collection – is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue.
This eye cream is part of the brand’s Magic Skincare range, which is praised for its transformative effects and premium formulas.
The cream is designed to target the delicate skin around the eyes and promises to target fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles through a combination of vitamins, plant stem cells and minerals.
However, as with all Charlotte Tilbury products, the Magic Eye Rescue doesn’t come cheap and this can make buying it a gamble.
To help you make a more informed decision, I’ve spent the past six weeks putting the eye cream to the test on my sensitive, acne-prone mature skin.
Keep reading my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue review to see if it lives up to the hype, works as promised and whether it’s really worth the money.
I remember when the Charlotte Tilbury skincare range was largely just the Magic Cream and Eye Rescue. In recent years, though, it’s grown significantly to include masks, serums, lip oils, SPF and more. That said, the Magic Skincare collection is still a firm favourite and, siting alongside the Magic Eye Rescue cream, you’ll also find:

The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue contains a blend of ingredients all aimed at making the skin around the eyes look younger and more plump. When combined, the formula promises to hydrate, firm, and brighten the eye area by reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness.
The standout ingredients include:
The Magic Eye Rescue formula also includes hydrating and nourishing ingredients including shea butter and coconut oil, which both condition the skin.
Even though Charlotte Tilbury promises the eye cream is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, if you have had problems in the past with retinol and Vitamin C, it’s worth doing a patch-test first. There’s nothing worse than skincare irritating your skin, let alone when it irritates the skin around your eye.
Similarly, the formula is non-comedogenic, meaning it shouldn’t clog pores or cause milia. However, if you experience any problems stop using the cream.
As someone with dry skin around my eyes, I found the thick, creamy texture of the Magic Eye Rescue cream soothing and creamy. It feels luxurious and rich – which is good considering how expensive it is; it would be terrible if it felt cheap – and it makes the skin immediately feel smooth and hydrated.
The downside to this almost buttery texture, however, is that it doesn’t work that well under makeup. It has a tendency to feel heavy and you have to wait a while for it to properly sink in if you want to prevent it mixing with your concealer, and get the best results.
As a result, I tended to only apply the Magic Eye Rescue at night, or on mornings when I wasn’t wearing makeup. The benefit of only applying it at night is you can also apply a thicker amount, and you don’t have to massage it in too much which can cause you to pull on the skin.
My favourite way of using this cream was applying it before bed, over the top of my eye serum – I’m currently loving The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Eye Serum (£19.90). Not only did it form a protective barrier that locked in the moisture from both the serum and cream throughout the night, it also helped protect the skin from rubbing too much against my pillow. I like to wear a silk eye mask too, but I often forget!
In the morning, my skin always felt soft and plump.
Over the course of my six-week Magic Eye Rescue review period, I saw a reduction in the fine lines around my eyes. My skin looked plumper and more radiant, and my dark circles – which, to be fair aren’t terrible but are noticeable – appeared brighter. The longer I used it, the greater the results too.
The ease of use is another factor worth mentioning. The cream spreads smoothly and absorbs reasonably well, despite its rich texture. There’s no strong scent, which is a bonus for me and my sensitive skin. The eye cream does come in a refillable jar and while this makes it easy to control how much I use, unless you use a skincare spatula you risk adding bacteria to the formula.
If it came with a pump, or in a squeezy tube I think it would be even easier and safer.
Price-wise, the Magic Eye Rescue is on the higher end at £49 for a 15ml jar. While this does make it an investment, I found that a little goes a long way. The results I experienced made the cost worthwhile for me. What’s more, I saw this results even though I largely only used it once a day, rather than the recommended twice a day.
Online reviews seem to echo my experience, too. Many users praise the product for its hydrating and brightening effects. Some said that they experienced an initial sting, likely due to the retinol, but most said that it subsides with regular use and this isn’t something I experienced.

I tested the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue over six weeks to see how well it worked. Following the brand’s advice, I began by using the eye cream twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, after cleansing my skin. However, I didn’t love how it worked with my makeup so I switched to using it mainly at night as a treatment and only applying it occassionally in the morning.
To make sure I could clearly see the effects of the eye cream, I didn’t change any other parts of our skincare routine during this time.
For the days when I did apply it in the morning, I gently patted a small amount of the cream around my eye area and let it absorb before putting on makeup, which took up to half an hour on average! At night, I repeated the process but used slightly more cream, and didn’t massage it as much. Instead leaving it to form a mask while I slept.
Throughout the six weeks, I paid close attention to how my skin looked and felt. I checked for improvements in hydration, texture, and the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. I also watched for any signs of irritation or breakouts to see if the product was gentle on my skin.
By keeping everything else in my skincare routine the same, it helped me clearly see how the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue affected my skin. This way, I could accurately determine if it made my skin look better, feel better, or caused any issues.

To get the best results from the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue, follow these steps:
If you’re using it a night, you can use slightly more and leave it to form a barrier on the skin that works its magic as you sleep. You don’t need to massage it as much this way. To maximise the impact, I suggest using it over an eye serum.
