@victoria_woolly_web For someone who is generally a fan of Charlotte Tilbury – I feel like the brand dropped off for a bit but I like its more recent skincare in particularly – the Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar 2023 has enough different products to make it worth buying. Even if you have a lot of her stuff already. I’m disappointed there isn’t an eyeshadow palette of some variety. Her quad palettes are expensive (at £40) and I was hoping the calendar would be a way of getting one slightly cheaper 😅 For £160 you get 12 days of products the majority are travel-sized. The only full-sized products are the Charlotte’s Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir and the Hot Lips 2 lipstick in the shade Glowing Jen. The drawers aren’t numbered so I think I was meant to go top left to bottom right but 🤷♀️ The box is cute and could double up as a jewellery box. It’s also slightly better quality than last year’s. All things considered I’m glad I bought it (it’s not an ad nor was it gifted) but it’s pricey and didn’t blow me away. @victoria_woolly_web This is how you do an advent calendar! The Liberty Advent Calendar 2023 is full of premium brands including Rose Inc. Dr Sturm, Sunday Riley and Aromatherapy Associates. Most of these brands I’ve heard of, some of them I haven’t and others are products I’ve been wanting to try but never got round to it. This (to me at least) is the beauty of advent calendars and the fact that 20 products are full-size is giving me life. This isn’t full of your viral products (with the exception of Paula’s Choice) it’s full of high-end skincare, hair care and makeup worth more than £1,000. @victoria_woolly_web I’ve been waiting for the Sephora Advent Calendar 2023 and it didn’t disappoint. For £189 you get 36 products – 23 of which are full size – worth £1,045. As advent calendars go, the Sephora Advent Calendar is up there with the Space NK one (in our view). There are also a number of products and brands you won’t find in many other calendars, including Gwen Stefani’s GXVE, K18, Fenty Skin and Vegamour. These products on their own get close to the price of the Sephora calendar. When you compare this to the Charlotte Tilbury Advent Calendar 2023, for example, it looks like an even better value. Charlotte’s calendar costs £29 less than Sephora’s calendar but you get 12 products versus 36. Plus, only two products in the Charlotte Tilbury calendar are full-size, versus 23 in the Sephora. We still think the Space NK takes the edge but the Sephora is a slightly cheaper calendar that’s almost exactly on par with its rival in our hunt for the best advent calendars 2023. Lush A beauty advent calendar is a take on the standard advent calendar but instead of religious pictures, or chocolate, you get beauty products behind each door.
You can buy standalone makeup or skincare advent calendars or you can buy calendars from retailers that contain a mix of beauty products.
For instance, Revolution sells a makeup advent calendar, Dr Barbara Sturm’s calendar only contains skincare, while Cult Beauty’s advent calendar sells a mixture of makeup, skincare, hair care and accessories.
The first beauty advent calendars come out in August and September and the releases start ramping up from October.
The Body Shop and Lush advent calendars are usually the first to go on sale, followed by Liberty and Charlotte Tilbury. This is based on previous years, and what we already know about the 2023 versions.
If you’re interested in one advent calendar in particular, it’s worth signing up for its waitlist as you’ll be given advanced notice of its release. We’ll also be adding to this list of best beauty advent calendars as and when new calendars are announced, and go on sale.
Cult Beauty Beauty advent calendars can be worth it if you like trying out a variety of beauty products and brands. They’re a fun and exciting way to count down to the holiday season while uncovering new favourite products.
Many beauty advent calendars are also worth a lot more than they cost. In the case of the Cult Beauty and Liberty calendars, as two examples, the calendars represent savings of £800-£900.
What’s more, you can get cheap advent calendars for less than £50 so, in our opinion, beauty advent calendars are worth it!
Clinique We call it “Advent” because, in Latin, “adventus” means “coming” or “arrival” and it’s linked with the arrival of Jesus Christ on 25 December.
The official Advent tradition, practiced by Christians, starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and usually lasts around four weeks. During this time, candles are placed on an advent wreath which represent hope, peace, joy, and love. Each candle is lit in order each week on the run-up to Christmas day.
However, you start an advent calendar on a different day (unless you’ve got a religious advent calendar or candle).
ESPA Knowing when to start an advent calendar depends on the type of advent calendar you’ve bought.
All 24-day and 25-day advent calendars start on 1 December and you open a door every day until either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
If you have a 12-day advent calendar, you should look to start it on 14 December if you want to open the final day on Christmas Day.
Advent calendars go from 1 to 25, not 25 to 1. The number of the door corresponds with the date so you’ll open door 1 on the 1 December, door 2 on the 2nd December, and so on until Christmas Day.
You can, of course, open advent calendars in any order you want – you can even open every door on the day it arrives if you prefer! – but the correct order is from 1 to 25.
This is because door 25 is typically reserved for the best item in the advent calendar, which is usually a full-sized product.
If you have a 12-day calendar, you start it on 13 December if you want to open the final door on Christmas Day.
Although you can technically start it whenever you want. Like with 25-door calendars, you start with door 1 and open door 2, door 3 and so on until you reach door 12.
The brands that do the best advent calendars are multi-brand beauty retailers like Cult Beauty and Harvey Nichols because you can get a wide range of products, product types, and brands.

Technically, any advent calendar can be an adult advent calendar because – as adults – we can choose which type of calendar we want! We’re guessing the distinction comes from the fact many advent calendars contain chocolate or toys and they’re seen as quite a child-like purchase.
However, if we take the term “adult” in the context of adult content, then we’re talking about calendars from the likes of Ann Summers and Lovehoney. These all contain toys and bedroom accessories to make the run-up to Christmas a little hotter…

Sephora Yes, Sephora does have an advent calendar. In fact, it has three!
The main, bestselling, and most popular version is the Sephora Favourites Advent Calendar. It’s a multi-brand calendar that contains the likes of Aromatherapy Associates, Glow Recipe, Elemis, and more. You can see the full list of what’s in the Sephora Advent Calendar 2023 here.
There are then two calendars in the Sephora Collection range.
The cheaper of the two, called the Sephora Collection Advent Calendar 2023, costs £49.99 and contains 24 days of Sephora’s own-brand products. The more expensive version, the Sephora Collection Premium Advent Calendar 2023, costs £79.99 and contains 24 days of Sephora products, although more are full-size or expensive than on the cheaper model.
Sephora advent calendars typically reflect the brand’s diversity of products, often featuring a mix of its bestselling or most popular items. These latter two calendars, particularly, are a great way to sample products from Sephora’s range without committing to full-price purchases.
They also make for a luxurious gift option for beauty enthusiasts. While the exact contents can vary from year to year, you can generally expect a well-curated selection that offers a comprehensive beauty experience, from skincare to makeup and other beauty tools.
Chanel Chanel is yet to announce if it’s selling an advent calendar in 2023 but judging by last year’s controversy, they may take a wide berth.
That’s because its $850 Chanel Advent Calendar caused an uproar on social media following its unveiling in 2022.
An influencer called Elise Harmon posted an unboxing video of the 2022 Chanel advent calendar to TikTok and criticised it for being full of “knickknacks” such as keychains and stickers alongside travel-sized versions of Chanel makeup and skincare. Despite being one of the most expensive calendars of the year.
Chanel allegedly then blocked Harmon which added fuel to the fire and people took to Chanel’s social channels to lament the French fashion brand.
As a result, Chanel may choose to not even bother with a calendar in 2023, or it will release one designed to get back into people’s good books!
Florence by Mills As of right now, there is no official announcement from Florence by Mills about a 2023 advent calendar. However, the brand has released an advent calendar in the past, so it is possible that they will release one again this year. If they do, it is likely to be available for purchase in late October or early November.
We’ll update this page once we know more but in the meantime, we recommend checking the Florence by Mills website or social media pages in the coming months for more information about a potential 2023 advent calendar. You can also sign up for its email list to be notified when new products are released.
Drunk Elephant was recently found to be the most searched-for beauty brand in the UK so it’s no surprise that fans are crying out for a Drunk Elephant Advent Calendar 2023.
The brand doesn’t typically release advent calendars. Instead, it focuses on Christmas gift sets and bundles.
It also partners with a number of retailers to make its products available in existing calendars. For instance, the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream features in the 2023 SpaceNK calendar, while the Beste No 9. Jelly Cleanser is in the Cult Beauty calendar.
With this in mind, it’s unlikely we’ll see a dedicated Drunk Elephant advent calendar in 2023 but if that changes, we’ll update this page.
The Ordinary Like with the Drunk Elephant advent calendar, Deciem (the company that owns The Ordinary) doesn’t tend to release a The Ordinary advent calendar. Instead, a lot of its products feature in other calendars.
For example in 2023, The Ordinary is already set to feature in the 2023 Space NK advent calendar, the Sephora advent calendar, and the Lookfantastic calendar.

If previous years are anything to go by, there is unlikely to be 2023 Ralph Lauren Advent Calendar. Well, certainly not one that is readily available to buy.
Reports suggest that Ralph Lauren does create an advent calendar each year but it’s only exclusively available for friends and family of the brand. That means unless you work for Ralph Lauren or know someone who does, you won’t be able to get a Ralph Lauren Advent Calendar in 2023.

Just like with the Glow Recipe calendar (and The Ordinary Advent calendar), there is unlikely to be a Sol de Janeiro Advent Calendar 2023 because you often find Sol de Janeiro products inside other calendars.

Clinique There was a Clinique Advent Calendar in 2022 – in fact, you can still buy it from a few places – but we haven’t had an official word about a 2023 Clinique Advent Calendar.
If/once that changes, we’ll update this page. In the meantime, we’ve pasted the contents of last year’s Clinique advent calendar to give you an idea of what the 2023 version could contain.

Too Faced The last time there was a Too Faced Advent Calendar was 2020 and the brand was criticised for the calendar’s high price and poor selection of products. Given that Too Faced hasn’t released a calendar since we’re not holding out hope for a Too Faced Advent Calendar 2023.
