Versed Dew Point Moisturizing Gel-Cream review: A saviour for oily skin

12th April 2024 | Author: Victoria Woollaston-Webber
Verdict

My experience with the Versed Dew Point Moisturising Gel-Cream was overwhelmingly positive during the six weeks of my review.

It managed to hydrate my skin, especially my dry patches without causing any irritation or breakouts, and without making my oily patches worse. My skin’s texture and appearance is better and my complexion is more balanced and less red.

For my combination skin, it’s almost a perfect product yet if you have dry, or very dry skin, the Dew Point may not provide enough nourishment. This can be remedied by applying an emollient on top, but is worth noting.

In my Versed Dew Point Moisturising Gel-Cream review, I put the lightweight moisturiser to the test to see how well it works

Versed wasn’t a brand I was aware of until I started my skincare group test but, judging by the number of requests it had on TikTok, it seems I’m very much in the minority.

Based in the US, Versed specialises in clean, vegan, and cruelty-free skincare products.

It places a strong emphasis on sustainability and its packaging is made using at least 50% post-consumer recycled plastic.

One of its most popular products, and one that has made it over to the UK high street, is the Versed Dew Point Moisturising Gel-Cream.

As the name suggests, it has a gel-cream formula that promises to absorb into the skin quickly and easily without any greasy residue.

It comes highly recommended by people with oily and acne-prone skin too and this is thanks to the use of aloe vera and green tea, both of which clear and calm the skin.

What’s more, it’s relatively affordable too.

To determine whether the gel-cream actually lives up to these claims and hype, I’ve spent the past six weeks using it as my go-to moisturiser.

In my Versed Dew Point Moisturising Gel-Cream review, I consider its formula and texture, how it feels on the skin, whether it hydrates, soothes and calms my combination complexion, and whether it’s worth buying.

Versed Skincare sells a growing range of skincare, including cleansers, moisturisers, serums, exfoliators, and targeted treatments. All formulated with clean, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients.

The Versed Dew Point gel cream is a standout because of its lightweight, hydrating formula yet there are a number of alternatives:

Versed Dew Point Formula

Versed Dew Point formula and texturemamabella | mamabella

The Versed Dew Point moisturiser is part gel, part cream. This makes it feel similar to a lightweight lotion; not as runny as a gel but not as thick as a cream

The Versed Dew Point moisturiser is part gel, part cream. This makes it feel similar to a lightweight lotion; not as runny as a gel but not as thick as a cream.

The formula is full of hydrating, soothing, and skin-repairing ingredients including:

  • Glycerin: A humectant that draws moisture into the skin to help with hydration.
  • Squalane: Mimics the skin’s natural oils, providing emollient benefits without a greasy residue.
  • Aloe Leaf Juice: Aloe is known for its soothing and moisturising properties making it great for calming irritated or inflamed skin.
  • Green Tea Extract: Offers antioxidant benefits, helping to reduce inflammation and protect the skin from free radical damage.
  • Jojoba Seed Oil: Very closely resembles human sebum meaning it moisturises the skin in the same way, and strengthens the skin barrier without clogging pores.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: A form of hyaluronic acid that helps to hydrate and plump the skin.

Versed Dew Point Performance

Before starting my Versed Dew Point Moisturising Gel-Cream review, I was cautiously optimistic. I have combination skin and it always poses a challenge for moisturisers because the product has to be able to hydrate my dry patches – on my cheeks and the side of my face – with the oiliness of my T-zone. It can’t be too heavy and it can’t clog the pores.

Thankfully the Versed Dew Point ticks almost all of these boxes.

It’s a lightweight gel-cream that feels instantly cooling and soothing as soon as your apply it

It’s a lightweight gel-cream that feels instantly cooling and soothing as soon as your apply it. The brand suggests patting the gel-cream into your face but I got better coverage and saw better results when I massaged it in.

That said, it spreads and absorbs easily across the face and neck whichever method you choose, and I was impressed by how quickly it soaked in. There was no residue left behind, no dryness, just a smooth, matte finish that felt and looked plump and hydrated.

At the start of my review, my complexion looked a bit dull, and the texture was uneven, with noticeable dry patches. By the end of the review, I saw noticeable improvements in my skin’s condition.

My dry areas felt more hydrated and looked visibly plumper, which helped reduce the appearance of flakiness. This was confirmed by my hydration test, too.

The Versed Dew Point increased the hydration of my skin by 7.5 percentage points, which is well above average and gives a rise of 20.8%.

This did drop after an hour but was still above average, which gained the moisturising gel-cream a spot in the top 10 on my best moisturiser list. It also deserves a place on my best moisturiser for combination skin list too.

My oily T-zone also seemed to benefit. It was definitely less oily as the review went on, and this meant my makeup stayed put and didn’t slide off towards the end of the day like it tends to do normally.

My skin’s overall texture and appearance was also transformed. The hydration provided by the gel-cream seemed to smooth out some of the fine lines that I’m starting to get, particularly around my eyes.

In fact, my complexion looked brighter and more even, which was an unexpected but highly appreciated benefit and one that meant I could cut back on the amount of makeup I needed to wear.

@victoria_woolly_web A new entry in my best rated face moisturiser list for the Versed Dew Point Gel! I need to test it for longer and write a proper Dew Point Gel review, to see if it’s good for acne and if it’s pore clogging, but in the short amount of time I’ve been using, it’s definitely made a difference to how red my skin looks, and its oiliness. An increase of 7.5 percentage points is above average and gives a rise of 20.8%. This did drop after an hour but was still above average. What’s more, because this is affordable, vegan and cruelty free it’s just straight in at number 6 on my best face moisturiser 2023 UK list! As usual, all products are applied to damp skin. They’re not used with any other products to make it easier to determine how well they work on their own. #mamabella #VersedDewPointGelReview #VersedDewPointGelForAcne #VersedDewPointGelPoreClogging #VersedDewPointFungalAcne #Moisturizer #FaceMoisturizerUKForWinter #BestFaceMoisturizerUKDermatologist #FaceMoisturiser2023UK #BestRatedMoisturiserUK #MoisturiserUK #BestFaceMoisturizer #MoisturiserDrySkinUK ♬ Murder On The Dancefloor – Sophie Ellis-Bextor

How I tested the Versed Dew Point

For my Versed Dew Point review, I used it as my only moisturiser every morning and night for six weeks. I also used it as a makeup primer throughout this review period.

In the morning, after cleansing, I massaged the recommended peanut-sized amount onto my face and neck. Followed by sunscreen.

In the evening, I applied my Torriden Dive-In serum after cleansing before locking it in place with the Versed Dew Point gel-cream.

The rest of my skincare and makeup routine remained the same. This made it easier to identify any problems or benefits that were most likely caused by the Versed moisturiser.

Throughout this period, I tracked how my skin looked and felt. I looked out for changes in texture, irritation and whether I experienced more breakouts or problems than I normally would.

How to use Versed Dew Point

I saw the best results when using the Versed Dew Point as follows:

  • Cleanse your face
  • Apply your toner and/or serum
  • Squeeze a peanut-sized amount of the gel-cream onto your fingertips
  • Warm the product slightly by rubbing it between your fingertips
  • Gently pat or massage the product into your face and neck while it’s still damp from the toner/serum.
  • If massaging it in, use upward and outward strokes.
  • Allow the gel-cream to fully absorb into the skin before applying any makeup or sunscreen if using it as part of your morning routine.
  • Repeat daily, both in the morning and at night.

It can be layered underneath thicker creams or face masks overnight too.
