The GHD Duet Style promises to take your hair from wet to dry using so-called “Air-fusion” technology
We’ve always been told that you never straighten your hair when it’s wet. Wet hair is incredibly fragile and applying any heat to it can cause the bonds to break down and your hair to become brittle.
However, with the launch of its new hot air styler, GHD has found a way for you to do just that – all without causing damage (apparently).
Called the Duet Style, the 2-in-1 tool uses what the brand calls “groundbreaking Air-fusion technology” to channel the airflow through a drying chamber to remove moisture from the hair.
There are then four low-temperature styling plates that straighten and smooth the finished look.
Below we explain more about the new styler and will update this page once we’ve had a chance to put the styler through its paces for a longer GHD Duet Style review.

Where to buy GHD Duet Style: GHD
The GHD Duet Style uses what the brand calls “groundbreaking Air-fusion technology” to dry the hair before low-temperature plates straighten in. It has a wet-to-style mode, as well as a standard straightening mode.
GHD claims that during tests, there was no thermal hair damage detected after four passes of the Duet Style over the hair in wet-to-style mode, compared to hair that had been dried naturally.
GHD describes its Air-fusion technology as consisting of a “unique internal aerodynamic system” that directs the airflow across each strand of hair to make sure it dries evenly. This is important because if any parts of the hair remain wet or contain more moisture than other sections, these will be susceptible to damage from the styling plates.
Once the hair is dry, you can switch to Shine Shot mode.
This ramps up the temperature in the plates of the GHD Duet Style to 185°C – the standard temperature found across GHD’s wider straighteners collection – and the airflow is switched off. In this way, you can use the floating plates as you would a regular straightener to knock out any frizz and create a sleek style.
This double-use goes someway towards justifying the high, £379 price of the GHD Duet Style because you’re effectively getting two products for the price of one. Still, £379 is not cheap.
GHD claims that, despite being able dry and style at the same time, the hair remains soft for up to 48 hours with twice the shine and 3.5x better hair alignment. Elsewhere, it is said to be quiet, as well as energy-efficient using up to 45% less energy than the GHD hair dryer.
