The Boots No 7 Menopause skincare line has been designed to target the main skin concerns women experience in perimenopause and beyond

As if the hot flushes, bouts of depression and loss of libido experienced when women reach perimenopause weren’t enough, menopause does a real number on your skin.

We explain more in our What happens to skin and hair during menopause? guide but just some of the symptoms include rashes, dry and itchy patches, sagging, pigmentation, and more.

survey recently found that more than 70% of British women are worried about the negative impact of menopause on their skin, and many women who have gone through the change said they had no idea that the impact could be so broad.

In response to the increasing movement towards more openness and honesty about menopause, a number of brands have launched skincare lines specifically designed to tackle the signs of menopause that come about from a drop in oestrogen and collagen.

This includes Boots No7 and below we’ve explained more about the No 7 Menopause skincare range that’s on sale now.

Boots No 7 Menopause skincare

What:? The Boots No 7 Menopause skincare range has been formulated to target the main signs and skin symptoms that occur when the body goes through menopause, and oestrogen and collagen declines. It has been created in association with more than 7,000 menopausal women and is approved by dermatologists. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin because, even if you’ve never had sensitive skin before, menopause can increase sensitivity to certain ingredients.

Why:? On the No 7 Menopause skincare landing page, Boots says that, based on its own research, it found that women do not understand how the skin changes during perimenopause and menopause. Thus creating “a need for more education and information about the ingredients and products that can help visibly improve the skin during this life stage.” The launch is part of No7’s wider commitment to supporting female empowerment. The brand has previously partnered with Macmillan to offer beauty support to women affected by breast cancer and has a whole campaign devoted to discussing menopause called Menopause Monologues.

When:? The full No 7 Menopause skincare line is on sale now.

Where:? The Boots No7 Menopause skincare range is available at Boots (in the UK) as well as from the UK No7 site. In the US, you can buy it directly from No7, or from Walmart.

No 7 Menopause Skincare Day CreamBoots

The No7 Menopause Day Cream has been designed to soothe dry skin, which is one of the most common menopause symptoms.

This cream promises to hydrate the skin for 72 hours and contains glycerin, a hydrating ingredient found naturally in the skin; and niacinamide, to hydrate, brighten and balance the skin.

Elsewhere, it contains SPF30 with UVA/UVB protection.

You should be wearing SPF daily, regardless of skin type or age, but when you reach menopause your skin can be more susceptible to skin damage and pigmentation so having sunscreen in your day cream is a great way around this.

If dry skin is a particular concern during perimenopause and menopause, then the No7 Menopause Skincare Night Cream helps offer an extra level of hydration as you sleep.

The beauty of a night cream is that it gets to work when your cells are renewing and regenerating. Sleep is hugely important for giving your skin the chance to repair itself and this nourishing cream gives the whole process a helping hand.

Glycerin, shea butter as well as ceramides and peptides moisturise, soften and help repair the skin barrier.

Whereas the No 7 Menopause Skincare creams are focused on offering hydration to dry, itchy and irritated skin, the Instant Radiance Serum focuses more on the effects of collagen decline. While also offering 72-hour hydration thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid.

It contains a collagen peptide-based technology known as Matrixyl 3000+ TM. This helps promote and kickstart the production of more collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin make up the “scaffolding” of the skin and are what give it its youthful and plump appearance.

As we get older, we produce less collagen and elastin and this is why our skin starts to sag.

Over time, this serum promises to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make your skin look firmer, younger and more radiant in just one week. What’s more, this serum has been designed with a metal applicator that helps cool the skin.

Just as the decline of collagen and elastin can make the skin across your face (and body) drop, it can also lead to eye bags and dark circles.

The formula of the No 7 Menopause Eye Concentrate contains lipids, to add a protective barrier to the delicate skin around the eyes and Soy isoflavones.

These are antioxidants that fight off free radicals and protect the skin from pollution and other environmental stressors all while making the skin soft and supple.

Elsewhere, red clover helps with boosting collagen but also increasing the skin’s thickness and ability to retain moisture, while niacinamide brightens and hydrates dull and sallow skin.

There’s even a metal rollerball applicator to help skin feel cool.

♥︎ No7 Menopause Cooling Mist

Designed to help cool and soothe the skin, especially during hot flushes, this mist also hydrates and nourishes thanks to the addition of glycerin, and calms thanks to the use of rose water.

According to Boots, 9/10 women surveyed said that the No 7 Menopause Skincare Instant Cooling Mist is “better suited to their menopausal skin than their usual mist.”

It can also work as a hydrating mist for use during makeup.

This is particularly key if menopause has caused you to have dry skin and your makeup doesn’t sit as well as it used to, or you find it flaking off.
